July ’26: Catch Ups, Crocodiles and Keeping Cool

Despite the heat, staff and volunteers at the Cheltenham Playhouse have been hard at work keeping the place running over the summer months. The building has been buzzing with activity, with rehearsals taking place for upcoming shows, such as Gloucestershire Shakespeare Collective’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Playhouse Company’s The Crucible as well as seeing regulars such as Comic Sans Script and Theatre Studio keeping the space alive.
The heat is a tough battle to face in our historic building.
Unfortunately, in these conditions our spaces can get rather warm but the show must go on and we have been doing all we can to keep our audiences, performers, staff and volunteers comfortable when they visit. We have installed an air con unit in our main rehearsal room as well as putting fans around the building and keeping windows and doors open where possible to allow for better airflow.
Our team have also tried to keep cool by keeping Christmas and our panto in mind. We have been preparing for our Peter Pan: The Pantomime Adventure photoshoot with the cast and welcoming the newest member of our team, Snap the Crocodile. Snap has settled in well and we look forward to seeing him around the building. Keep an eye out for him on social media and around the Playhouse in the coming months.
