Theatre Studio
The Playhouse is home to Theatre Studio, an independent part-time performing arts school, set up 30 years ago by members of the theatre. It provides classes on various afternoons after school and on Saturdays, depending on the class taken (speech, musical theatre, dance, improvisation etc). They also run week-long summer and easter schools leading to full stage performances.
Playhouse Company
The Playhouse Company is an amateur dramatic company who reside at the Cheltenham Playhouse. We have remained active at this theatre for over 60 years, and currently put on two productions a year. We meet up socially, mainly for play readings, usually on the last Monday of every month.
There is much more to amateur theatre than acting, and we would like to encourage those of you who can offer skills in other areas (set-building, painting, properties, wardrobe, lighting, audio etc) to also come along and get involved.

Comic Sans Script
The Playhouse hosts Cheltenham's biggest improvised comedy group Comic Sans Script (https://comicsansscript.com/). They hold weekly Wednesday workshops, open to all adults* with improv experience. If you don't have any improvised comedy experience, no worries - they run beginner's courses too! They also run the free monthly 'Improjam' shows (https://www.facebook.com/CheltenhamImprojam/) on the first Sunday evening of the month in the Playhouse's Green Room Bar.

The Cheltones Singing Group
Tuesdays 10.30am – 12pm
The Cheltones Singing Group has been running at Cheltenham Playhouse since 2018 and
gives people who want to sing, but maybe have little or no experience, the chance to come
and join a warm, friendly bunch of people. We sing an eclectic mix of songs from contemporary and folk to sea shanties and gospel, amongst other genres. All songs are learnt by ear and there are no auditions or solos! There are opportunities to perform with our other groups (The Tuesdays and The Wednesdays Singing Groups) but there is absolutely no pressure to do this.
