Contact Us

Please use the booking button on each event listing or alternatively you may telephone the box office on 01242 522852. We endeavour to operate the box office for personal and telephone callers from 10am - 4pm Tuesday - Friday and from 10am - 2.30pm on Saturdays, plus 90 minutes before a performance in the evening.

Reservations without payment will be held for five working days while you send a cheque or wish to collect and pay in person. If the performance is less than five days away, payment must be made at the time of booking.

All sales are final and refunds will only be given in the event that a performance is cancelled in which case all fees, including any processing and postage fees will be refunded. We will, if possible, exchange tickets for another performance of the same production. However, we can refund tickets (excluding postage and processing fees) if you return them to us and we succesfully resell them after all other seats have been sold, a £2 fee per ticket is charged for this service. Customers must not attempt to resell their own tickets if they have asked the box office to attempt to resell them. Ticket exchanges for a different time/date for the same performance are charged at £2 per ticket.

If customers resell their own tickets or attempt to duplicate them the new patrons may not be permitted entry if there is a booking conflict.

Group Discounts

Group Discounts may be available at certain performances – please check with the box office. Groups of more than 20 people cannot be booked online and must be booked through the box office.

Online bookings are generally subject to a processing fee of 95 p per ticket, although some events (such as free or club activities) may be exempt from this. Restoration Levy Fee

.The Cheltenham Playhouse has existed since 1945, with parts of the building dating back to 1806. Much like us all, age can take its toll. Since 1945 the charity has worked hard to preserve aspects of the historic buildings, whilst providing an arts venue for community groups, artists and audiences. This building is not only of historical interest to our visitors but, we believe, has many stories for future generations.

The Cheltenham Playhouse is one of very few truly independent local venues. The charity is solely responsible for all upkeep and restoration of the Grade II listed building. This work isn’t cheap.

Therefore, we are introducing a Restoration Levy of £1.50p per ticket (for the first 15 tickets per transaction) this is applicable to all online bookings and optional for in person and telephone bookings. This will allow us to maintain and improve the building, for our current visitors and those in the future.

The Restoration Levy allows us to:

Spreading a small cost across a larger group of supporters allows the community to gain funds to support smaller projects and artists that would otherwise be under-supported.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of the venue and its visitors. Without your backing The Cheltenham Playhouse would be very different. So, thank you - We hope to see you soon.

The Restoration Levy will be put into place from the 1st September 2023.

If you are in the fortunate position that you are able to contribute further to The Cheltenham Playhouse, additional Donations, with the option of Gift Aid, can be made at the time of booking.

If you wish to learn more about making a significant donation, sponsorship, legacy or other major contribution to the theatre, please contact us at, where a member of management will be happy to discuss this with you.

The Restoration Levy is applicable to all online tickets. Remember, booking in person or by telephone avoids the 95p ticket processing fee and the Restoration Levy is optional.

Although it can be nice to have tickets in advance, it’s not essential, so please remember postage fees are also avoidable too if you are happy to collect your tickets from the box office prior to or on the day of the performance.

All tickets and booking fees are non-refundable unless due to an error or cancellation that is the responsibility of The Cheltenham Playhouse.
