Join us for a haunting centenary tribute to Rupert Julian's The Phantom of the Opera (1925), a landmark of silent cinema starring the legendary Lon Chaney. His unforgettable Phantom - cloaked in darkness beneath the Paris Opera House - is a masterclass in expressionist performance and early special effects. Presented with live piano by Neil Brand, one of the world's foremost silent film musicians and a celebrated BBC broadcaster, this special event breathes fresh energy into a gothic masterpiece that remains as visually iconic as ever.
This evening includes a short introduction by Neil Brand reflecting on the film's cinematic legacy and the enduring magic of silent storytelling.
More than opening night - this is a celebration of 100 years of cinema.
