From Django to Tango - Swing From Paris are an all-string jazz quartet of violin (Fenner Curtis), guitars (Andy Bowen & Sam Hughes) and double bass (Tomasz Williams), inspired by the music of the 1930s, '40s and '50s: from the cafés and cabarets of Montmartre to Artie Shaw, Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli and the master of tango, Astor Piazzolla. Their Parisian-flavoured jazz and vintage swing has been delighting audiences for almost 20 years: from major jazz festivals including the Django Reinhardt Festival as Samois-sur-Seine and performing at the French Ambassador's residence for Bastille Day.
Joining the band for this special performance will be accordionist and bandoneonist, Mirek Salmon, a tango virtuoso who has performed with BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera, the RSC, and the London Tango Orchestra. An expert in the music of Astor Piazzolla, he also tours internationally with his own trio, Tango Calor.
