We screened Cukor's Gaslight (starring Ingrid Bergman) last year. It was a success, so here we are with another Cukor, also with a strong female lead. This stars Katharine Hepburn as a socialite about to marry a boring but wealthy man. Things get complicated when her ex-husband (Cary Grant) turns up with a tabloid journalist (James Stewart) in tow. Eventually, it's conceded that the journalist can cover the wedding. A come-back vehicle for Hepburn after a string of flops, her star shines bright in this film, and you couldn't wish for a better pair of male co-stars to make it worth seeing again and again.
